What Keeps You Holding on to the Iron Rod?

The sisters were asked at the Women’s Conference, “What keeps them holding on to the Iron Rod?” Here are their responses:

  • My Family, The Comfort I get when I pray, The kind people.

  • My desire to be with my family forever.

  • Inspirational Experiences as a child, years before I joined the church and right before I joined as a teenager. Knowing that God knows who I am.

  • My family is the rock, my inspiration to keep moving forward and to stay focused and grounded.

  • Parents

  • I know the gospel is true. I know there is a God and He loves us. Christ died for us that we might have the opportunity to go home and help as many to do likewise.

  • Love of God and Family.

  • A desire for more. A purpose.

  • My family

  • Stability

  • The peace I feel, in troubled times, when I focus on my Heavenly Father and my Savior

  • Family

  • Faith, Hope, Love

  • Joy, Peace, Faith

  • To Seek for sources of this spiritual strength

  • My desire to repay the Savior for his sacrifice for me personally

  • The peace and hope I feel. I feel lost without it.

  • see our Father one day. "And also because it makes this life is easier)

  • Christ’s love for me!

  • Lo que me mantiene sujeta a la barra de hierro es: Las vivencias que he tenido en mi vida y he podido ver la diferencia entre tener y no tener el evangelio y la guía del espíritu en mi vida. Esas vivencias nadie puede quitarmelas. Están prendidas en mi alma.
    (What keeps me attached to the iron rod is: The experiences that I have had in my life and I have been able to see the difference between having and not having the gospel and the guidance of the spirit in my life. No one can take those experiences away from me. They are attached to my soul.)

  • The scriptures and conference talks. My Priesthood leaders.

  • I am here for and know God gives me solace, love, and acceptance

  • God’s love makes me feel protected

  • Porque tengo on testimonio de que mi Salvador vive y me ama. (Because I have a testimony that my Savior lives and loves me.)

  • It’s the only viable choice. All else leads to places I don’t want to go.

  • Temple

  • My friends and family.

  • Because I know God loves me and I know that by holding on to it, it’s going to help me get closer to God.

  • My son, my husband and my faith keep me going.

  • Knowing I will be with my family forever.

  • I hold on as hard as I can. Going to the temple, having strong friends, remembering my parent’s examples

  • My eternal family, the blessings that we are promised, being able to see my father again, the love of Heavenly father and His tender mercies, my kids

  • My belief that He knows me and aware of my struggles

  • I have seen what it’s like when I don’t hold on and it’s scary and depressing. I need the gospel in my life.

  • Belief, Testimony of others, Hope, Faith, Holy Ghost promptings, Obvious blessings

  • The gospel is true! In this chaotic world, where things seem to change every day, the Gospel will not, does not change! Heavenly Father knows me and loves me. This does not change. My husband loves me.

  • The quality of life it blesses me with

  • My eternal companion passed. Getting closer to God is how I get closer to him as well. Clinging to the rod in my mind is growing closer to God.

  • Hope, Need

  • My family was the reason we were all baptized.

  • The beautiful promises of the temple covenants keep me putting one foot in front of the other.

  • What is keeping me on the Iron Rod is my testimony and God

  • Knowing how much happier I feel there

  • Attend the Temple more often

  • I hold the rod for safety, peace and light in my life

  • Trust Jesus Christ. Everything will be okay at the end.
